* Which package should I use?
*

There are four types of packages.

1. libharu_2_X_X.tgz
   Is a Source package for LINUX platforms (and similar systems)
   This package includes all source code, documents and sample-files.
   If you want to build Haru with using Mingw or build a dll on cygwin, use 
   libharu_2_x_x_win32.zip/tgz.

2. libharu_2_x_x_win32.zip/tgz
   Is a Source package for Windows platforms 
   In addition to all files of libharu_2_X_X.tgz, makefiles and static library 
   files of zlib/pnglib for MSVC, BCC32 and MinGW are included.

3. libharu_2_x_x_dll_win32.zip
   Is a binary package of DLL version for Windows platforms
   This package includes libhpdf.dll, header files, example programs and 
   interface files for C/C++, delphi/FPC, ruby and C#.

4. libharu_2_x_x_ruby_win32.zip
   Is a binary package of interface module for Ruby on windows.
   This package includes hpdf.so (a module file for ruby) and sample programs.

* Installing Haru Free PDF Library
*

1. Build from source on linux platform

   1) Unpack the libharu package.

      tar -xvzf libharu_2.X.X.tgz
      cd libharu-2.X.X

   2) Run configure script

      ./configure [--prefix=$HOME] [--shared]

   3) Build library and install

      make clean
      make
      make install

   4) Type "make demo" to test library. If it succeeds, some PDF files are 
      madein the demo directory.

   Or you can use one of the custom-built makefiles in the "script" 
   directory.


2. Build from source on Windows platform

   1) Unpack the libharu package. 

      unzip -xvzf libharu_2.X.X_win32.zip

   2) Open command prompt and change current directory to "libharu-2.X.X". 
      cd libharu-X.X.X

   3) Build library with using appropriate Makefile in "script" directory.

      nmake -f script\Makefile.msvc  (Microsoft VC++ compiler)
      make -f script\Makefile.bcc32  (Borland C++ compiler)
      make -f script/Makefile.mingw  (MinGW on MSYS, MinGW on cygwin)
      
      If you want to create DLL, use Makefile.msvc_dll, Makefile.bcc32_dll,
      Makefile.mingw_dll instead.

   4) Type "make demo" to test library. If it succeeds, some PDF files are 
      madein the demo directory.

   An install command is not provided on Windows platform.

   
3. Use a binary package of DLL on Windows.

   Unpack libharu_2_x_x_dll_win32.zip and copy libhpdf.dll to an 
   arbitrary directory.
    
   The dll file is compiled by MSVC++ (The calling convention is stdcall 
   and symbols exported without @NN suffix).


4. Installing a Ruby module (Build from source on linux platform).   

   1) Build Haru as a static library.

      NOTE:
      When you build haru for creating ruby extension library on linux 
      platforms, run configure script with following command. 

      ./configure --cflags=-fPIC

   2) Change directory to "libharu-2.X.X/if/ruby" and run extconf.rb.

      ruby extconf.rb

   3) Then invoke "make install" command.

      make install

5. Installing a Ruby module (Windows platform)

   Unpack libharu_x_x_x_ruby_win32.zip and copy hpdf.so to 
   "site_ruby/X.X/i386-msvcrt" directory manually.
