You will find the FreeBSD LiveCD available in 3 flavors: LiveCD-[version_number].tgz LiveCD-[version_number]_[FreeBSD_version].ISO and LiveCD_desktop-[version_number]_[FreeBSD_version].ISO As the names indicate, the .tgz file is a package that contains the FreeBSD LiveCD scripts, that will allow you to create the ISO image and run your LiveCD system. The ISO files are a READY TO RUN LiveCD image featuring the indicated FreeBSD version, created with the also indicated LiveCD displayed version. It is offerred in two version: the desktop version, featuring an X server and some applications (see the package list within the download directory) and a standard shell based FreeBSD system to be used as a recovery/install CD. All set for you to record your CD. Just burn it and run it ! :)
